In Canada, a writer visiting Indian storyteller Pi Patel and asked him to tell his life. Pi describes his childhood in Pondicherry, India, and the origin of his nickname. One day, his father owns a zoo, explained that the municipality no longer supports the zoo, so he decided to move to Canada, where family pets has also sold. They board a Japanese cargo with animals and out of the blue, there is a storm, and shipwreck. Pi survives in a lifeboat with a zebra, orangutan, hyena and Bengal tiger named Richard Parker male. They are adrift in the Pacific Ocean, with aggressive hyenas and Ricardo Parker hungry.
